Aurigid Meteor "Storm"

Uploaded 9/1/07

The increase in meteor activity of this normally weak shower was predicted to reach possible storm levels when the earth passed into the debris trail of the Comet Keiss, the progenitor of this annual event. The moon was nearly full, turning the entire sky a bright blue color and diminishing the faintest meteors. We did however get three metors in our camera, which was the first dark sky tests as well for the new Sigma 8mm f/3.5 fish eye lens.

Two images of each frame are presented. The first is the entire all sky frame, and the second a zoom in on the meteor in that frame.
