Comet 46P/Wirtanen
in the evening sky
December 15, 2018
This
night not only cleared suddenly after being cloudy all day, but
the 50% moon set behind the trees as to not blow out this image.
Here are three focal lengths of the comet not only one day from
closest approach to the Earth, but making a stunning grouping
with the Pleiades and Haydes star clusters! The Canon XTi (Hutech
Modified) was on the back of my 10 inch inside the observatory
for this set of images. The comet was, despite the very bright
blue moon lit sky an easy naked eye object just four degrees
south of the Pleiades. |
