Comet Pons Brooks
in the Evening sky
October 7, 2023 - 8pm

 This small comet is currently 11th magnitude, but will brighten considerably over the next four months. Close examination shows the peculiar dark notch in the inner coma, now highlighted by a bright internal rim that is horseshoe shaped. Very unusual appearance. This is an LRGB image - 15 mins of RGB binned 2x2 and 45 mins of Full size L data. 10" f/3.9, Atik 16200 CCD. Stay tuned on this one, it will just get better and better!
