Comet Pons/Brooks
in the evening sky
2/12/24
Here
is the last dark sky shot of the incoming comet before the full
moon washes our night sky out in February. Here, it is 7.5th
magnitude and from Arizona is about 15 degrees up at dark. As
you know, the more north you are, the higher up it is at dusk.
The first hints of a broad dust fan can now be seen to the right
of the comets blueish gas tail. Multiple gas streams are emerging
from the cyan colored coma, and look carfully to the right of
the comets blueish gas tail. Multiple gas streams are emerging
from the cyan colored coma, and look carfully to the right of
the dust tail and a small spiral galaxy can be also seen. |
