Comet 10P - Tempel 2
in the evening sky
10/4/26

It is finally time to say goodbye to this comet, as it is now fading fast as it pulls away from the Sun and heads out to the outer solarsystem. The comet is currently very low, about 20 degrees up in Pisces Austrinus in the south, and I took this shot when it was on the meridian to get the best opportunity to record any details. Surprisingly, the dust trail is still visible but fainter than before. The comets head is still a nice teal green color and it now sits in a sparse starfield full of faint galaxies.

Two simultaneous shots are provided here. The first is with the 11" RASA astrograph with a monochrome camera and RGB filters, and the second with a side mounted Zeiss Milvus 135mm f/2 lens and color camera.
