Comet 46P/Wirtanen
in the evening sky
December 29, 2018

With the bright comet fading into the distance, it once again fits nicely in the 10 inch field of view. This is close to one of the best shots Ive taken of this comet, and Im glad to share it with you all. The night was VERY cold for here in Arizona, low 20s. The CCD cameras cooler was working great - only at 25% power.
Taken with the 10" f/3.9 Orion Astrograph and Baader MPCC. An ST10xme CCD was used for this set lasting about an hour. Click here for a larger 1400 sized image
