Comet 10P - Tempel 2 with tail and dust trail
in the morning sky
6/19/26

Here is the full color version of Comet 10P from the morning of the 20th. Here we see the fan shaped cyan colored coma with a sharp stellar nucleus within the linear dust trail. The trail is more distinct on the right side (west) and seems to fade into the background on the left (east) side. Also note the ray like gas tail pointing at around the 4:00 position which is about a degree long. Finally, the entire background is covered in highly structured integrated flux nebulosity. This is not surprising since the eastern side of Sagittarius is densely populated with such clouds, and here we are just over the border in Capricorn.
