Comet C/2025 R2 Swan
in the Evening sky
10/17/25

Now fading fast, this 6th magnitude comet is only a phantom of what it once was when it was brilliant in the southern hemisphere sky. The short dust tail is seen here pointing to the left, and the greenish head of the comet is in the very center of this image. It is bracketed by the Eagle Nebula just above it, and below the Swan nebula. The entire frame is in a rich Milky Way field.

This was with the Samyang 135mm f/2.4, ASI2600MC, and for an hour total taken about 20 mins drive north of Payson where the south western sky is accessible.
