Comet Panstarrs S3 over DWB111 - Propeller Nebula in Cygnus
in the morning sky
5/2/24
Ive
been planning to take this exact framed image for months now,
and finally on the night of closest approach, it was clear. This
is the Comet Panstarrs S3 at its brightest and best as it passed
DWB111 in Cygnus - with its tail draped right smack dab in the
middle of the axle of the propeller nebula. This only occured
for a few hours on one night, May 2nd. This deep image not only
reveals the comets long and silky dust tail, but also shows hints
of an bright ridge running down the tail, a phenomenon called
a "Neckline structure". The background nebulosity in
this part of the sky is absolutely incredible, and reveals intricate
details. Technical Data: 10" f/2.8 GSO astrograph with Nexus
