Comet C/2025 R3 Panstarrs
in the evening sky
5/11/26

Last chance for us north of the equator to shoot this fading comet. Currently, it is only a few degrees up in the western sky an hour after sunset while the sky is still very bright. The comets greenish head was all I could capture, along with the sword of Orion in the upper right corner. Compare this to the magnificent shots they have been achieving south of the equator and this time we are left in the dust! I used 5 second subs here as to not blow out the shot from over exposure for a total of 2 mins. Lots of smoke from controlled burns in Az right now, making for some all too orangy sunsets and hazy skies.
