Comet Neowise F3
in the morning sky
July 7, 2020

The Comet has doubled its length this morning, rising around 3:50 am. The tail came up first, and I was able to lock onto the horizon early enough to get this shot in. This is with the 6 inch f/3.6 schmidt Newtonian and reveals what appears to be a more symetrical tail. The comet was about 4 degrees long visually in the binoculars. Finally, I grabbed the Star Analyzer diffraction grating and took a look at the nucleus. I was pretty sure I was able to see a yello sodium band, thus the yellow color explained.
