Comet Neowise F3
in the morning sky
July 3, 2020
| This
bright comet is at perihelion today and has for the first time
emerged from behind the Sun into the morning sky. Battling monsoon
clouds until the very end, I was able to shoot the comet in a
narrow clearing in the cloud deck this morning, with a twilight
so bright I could only go 0.5 seconds maximum without over exposure.
Yet here is the zero magnitude comet visible against the tremendous
sky glow only a few degrees over the north eastern horizon. We
are a week away from the peak altitude in the morning before
it goes into the evening sky and will fade very fast. |
