Comet C/2015 V2 Johnson
in the Evening sky
May 13, 2017

This bright evening comet rides high in the eastern sky at dark, which this time of year is around 9pm. Now in Bootes, this 7th magnitude comet boasts a cyan colored coma, tapering dust tail (going to upper left here) and a faint gas tail pointing straight down in this image. Numerous faint galaxies pepper this frame, which is about 3/4 a degree wide.
