Comet Atlas G3 in broad daylight
in the Morning sky
January 14, 10:17 am

This comet is now 1 day past its closest approach to the Sun (Perihelion) and has dramatically increased in brightness. This shot with the 10 inch was at 10:17am in the morning with the sun high up in the southeast. The tail is more curved now as it zings round the sun, and the nucleus was quite bright at around mag -3 or so. This is an AVI 1000 frame stack.
