Comet 29P SW
in the evening sky
March19, 2025

This comet is currently in outburst around 12th magnitude in Leo near the star Regulus. Most of the time this comet which stays in a circular orbit way out near Jupiter is around magnitude 15 and very faint. Recently, the comet has explosively brightened and nnow sports a much larger asymetrical coma as seen here and a very starlike nucleus. It will fade again in a few weeks, then we wait again for another outburst.
