Perseid Meteors 2010

Updated 8/21/10

The robotic digital barn door mount was employed once again on the night of August 12-13, 2010. 80 exposures, 5 minutes each were taken, but the last few hours the battery powering the motor drive failed and the last few are trailed. But the last exposure has the best of 8 meteors recorded - a brilliant Venus brightness object cutting across the top of the frame as the blue glow from the approaching twilight was in progress. Here are the results of the all night set, with the 17mm f/4.5 lens and ISO800.

Here is the best meteor of the night, at the top of the frame, about -10 magnitude.

This chart shows all the meteors recorded, with the first object being a satellite trail from an Iridium flare. A line profile for each meteor is also portrayed.
