This brand new film from Fuji seems ideal for recording highly detailed images of both red and blue objects. It is very high in contrast, and hypers up very well. The film is also very inexpensive, and has embarasingly fine grain. These are my first test images with the new film for your evaluation.

All shots were taken with my 12.5" f/5 Newtonian with coma corrector from Payson, Arizona. Hypering times seemed optimized for 12 hours at 50C at 2PSI with a Lumicon Model 300 Kit. Im in the process of refining the collimation and focusing of my 12 and this fine grained film shows every error, so it made a good choice for these tests.

Blue Objects

M11 in Scutum. 15 mins - Full 35mm field

Extreme 8x enlargement of above M11 frame to show fineness of grain

Single frame of M51 Whirlpool Galaxy. 45 minutes, 2X enlargement from original frame.

M51 Whirlpool Galaxy. 2 one hour long exposures were blended to make this composite.4x enlargement from neg.

Planetary Nebula

M57 The Ring Nebula. Full 35mm Frame. 15 minutes exposure.

4x zoom of above shot. the nebula is a golden yellow, with a blood red fringe. Soft focus.

M27 - The Dumbell Nebula. 30 minutes in early mornining twilight. The films high contrast is excellent for recording the outer "wings". This is a 3x enlargement from the original frame.

Emission Nebula

M8 the Lagoon Nebula. Two 45 minutes exposures multiplied. Pink, rather than blood red of PJ400 is probably closer to its true color.

Extreme enlargement of above shot of Lagoon Nebula revealing fine grain and high resolution of Bok globules.
