Comet Ikeya-Zhang

In Serpens

Uploaded 6/13/02

Still with us, this 7th magnitude object now rides very high in Serpens. The comets fine greenish color is fading, but still present. Curently, the comet is nearing a position on the 26th where the Earth passes through the comets orbital plane. Allready, we can see a faint westward pointing Anti-tail growing longer and more distinct every day. I have a schmidt camera shot of this event taken a few days ago here.
