 This is my deepest shot yet of this complex region, dominated by the Great Orion Nebula in the center. The blue reflection nebulosity NGC1973-77 is just above, and a small nebulous patch NGC1999 is above. The Horsehead nebula is in the upper left. The key point of this image is illustrate the huge amount of field hydrogen nebulosity extending east from the Sword, over to Barnards loop which is off to the left beyond the frame edges. A few tattered wisps of blue nebulosity are present as well.

Sky conditions were perfect as it gets. I doubt I can get a significantly better shot with color film on this target, this is 32 minutes of combined integration with the schmidt at a very dark sky location.
