This rich region includes nearly the entire constellation of Scorpius, with bright Antares just above center. The Rho Ophiuchi complex is above center, and to the lower left is the Table of Scorpius region with numerous emission patches to be seen. Also note the radiating dark nebula emanating from Antares and going to the upper left. This is quite a short exposure, made piggyback on the schmidt camera during two 8 minute duplicate frames. Although some aberrations are present with the lens stopped down one stop, my time limit of 16 minutes or so until the next schmidt series was used. Instrument: Pentax K1000 and 50mm f/2.8 lens Platform: Homemade GEM Film: Kodak Supra 400 CCD Autoguider: ST4 Exposure: 16 mins Filters: NONE Location: Happy Jack, Arizona Elevation: 6800 ft.
