This most interesting field in Scorpius illustrates the variety of subject material available to a fast lens optical system under dark skies. In this single 8 minute exposure, we see to lower left the large splashy cluster is M7, and the butterfly shaped cluster to right of center is M6. The entire left side of the field is covered with tens of thousands of stars from our Milkyway, rich with dark nebula and a yellowish tint from dust interstellar extinction. The huge red nebula on the right edge is LBN 1117, and emission nebula which is a huge 2 degrees in size. At the top is another enigmatic emission object, Sharpless 2-15, at about half a degree in diameter and forming a complex ring shape. Barnard 292 is the dark wispy nebula on the left edge, and the region just above M6 is a huge dark region as well. The field here is 4.5 x 6.5 degrees.
