Sharpless 140 in Cepheus
with 10" f/3.9 Astrograph
Uploaded 12/15/23

Here is Sharpless 2-140,a very seldom imaged nebulosity in the constellation of Cepheus. The field here is about a degree and a half, and is centered on a V shaped cluster of hot blue stars which illuminate this region. It is a very peculiar looking object indeed - The mix of blue and yellow dust with the reds and pinks makes for quite a color play in this image. Look to the lower left along the bottom and you will see a tiny blue reflection nebula. This is DG183/LBN508. The huge contorted cloud to the upper left is Sh2-145 and has some dark lanes and globules within. All stars are G2V calibrated. Technical Data:10" f/3.9 GSO astrograph + MPCC,Atik 16200 CCD,7h total.
