This tight pair of galaxies can be found in easternmost Virgo and offer contrasting views of two different galaxy types. On the left, NGC5850is a 10.7 magnitude SBb barred spiral, 4 arcmins in size. The yellow bar is surrounded by a nearly perfect ring of blue stars tangent to the ends of the bar. On the right, NGC5846 is an Elliptical galaxy, 3.5 arcmins in size, and a brighter 10th magnitude. Its tawny coloration is also seen here. Its companion, just below and inside the glow of the main galaxy is NGC5846a, a 13.8 magnitude small elliptical type that is .4 arcmins in extent.
