NGC6888 - The Crescent Nebula in Cygnus
with 10" f/3.9 Astrograph
Uploaded 11/4/22

This dim object in Cygnus is an emission nebula surrounding a Wolf Rayet star, a super hot star with a high stellar wind which is blowing a cavity in the surrounding gas. This image shows that the fine structure itself is small spherical bubbles, especially noticeable in the blue green OIII nebulosity. To create this image, a long exposure standard RGB image was supplemented with some data from an OIII filter (Baader 4nm) and a Halpha filter (CS 3nm) to create this complete rendition.
