NGC6559 and surrounding nebulosities in Sagittarius
with 10" f/3.9 Astrograph
Uploaded 10/5/23
This
week Id like to share with you another newly completed image,
NGC6559 and the surrounding hordes of blue and red nebulosities.
This extremely complex and beautiful region includes not only
NGC and IC nebulas, but Barnard dark nebula, Sharpless catalog
objects, and a whole slew of amazing colored double stars. I
wont detail each object here, that you can do with your favorite
charting program, but I will point out some interesting features.
This image is G2V color balanced and shows reasonably true colors
for both the nebula and stars. Notice how the nebula is pink
in the center, gradiates to deep red on the periphery, and on
the lower right edge again a strong pink coloration due to Hbeta
contribution. Several exquisitte blue reflection objects are
seen here. Below center is part of NGC6559, but the glowing bulbous
pillar above is rimmed in a blue reflection. Thats Sharpless
2-32. At top that little intense blue puff is IC4684, and the
cluster of stars on the top right edge is NGC8546. Finally take
note of the beautiful blue and gold double star on the right
edge, surrounded by a wisp of blue relection. Technical data:
