Low Resolution Spectrograph Project - 200mm with SA100
Uploaded 9/7/13

For this set of images, the 1.25" diameter Star Analyzer was mounted in front of the objective lens on our 200mm zoom lens for our Canon XTi (Hutech modified for extended red response). Exposures up to 1 mins were taken of the Orions belt and Sword regions, and the accompanying dark frames to match. Spectral lines are hard to see here, so in the second image in a set, I stretched the images perpendicular to the spectral dispersion in Photoshop to make the noisy lines easier to see. I think I may have had the ISO set too high at 800 which resulted in way too much noise, but this first set ever shows a direction to head for improvement!
