Zeta Orionis Region - First Light for new RASA 11
Emission / Reflection in Orion
Uploaded 1/21/25

This is the very first test shot with our new Rasa 11 up in Happy Jack. The setup needs alot of adjustments and refinements before I can call it routine, but it at least proves the filter holders work, and the Baader filters do their job. One hour of RGB data followed by one hour with the 3.5nm f/2 Halpha filter. Collimation is good, but the camera mount needs some tilt adjustment. The 35mm sized chip has a good 2x3 degree field here, and this will work for many targets.

This image is centered on the dark Barnard 92 Horse Head nebula, and features a rather extensive record of IC434 and NGC2024. The mottling on the left side is intriguing to say the least. The only other area I have seen such structures is in the "Fox Fur" nebula in Monoceros.
