Veil Nebula Super Nova Remnant
SNR in Cygnus
Uploaded 10/8/25

This really deep shot of the Veil nebula in Cygnus records so much hydrogen nebulosity, the entire field is filled with its ephemeral glow. This is the first image with our new hard to obtain Baader f/2 OIII filter which took me the better part of a year to get and I had to have it shipped direct from Germany. I was struck by the large number of thin red filaments around the periphery of this object, and how it blends seamlessly into the general background hydrogen glow of the Cygnus region.

Technical Data: 11" f/2.2 RASA astrograph, ASI6200mm + Baader HaOIIIRGB filters, Integration time = 2.5h total, Happy Jack, Az.

This is the Context image of the Veil Nebula in Cygnus taken simultaneously with the RASA 11 shot posted earlier this week. While this deep shot does not show the intricate details and resolution of the RASA shot, it reveals that the entire field surrounding the Veil is filled with red and pink glowing hydrogen. The other target of interest in this wide field shot is the large open cluster in the lower right corner - NGC6940 which uncondensed and splashy.
