Sharpless 2-36
Molecular Cloud in Ophiuchus
Uploaded 7/11/24
Sharpless 2-36 is a
bit of a rare bird, it is an isolated molecular cloud in Ophiuchus
that Sharpless included in his compilation. With no nearby star
to illuminate it fully, this object is dimly lit by near by stars
near the core of our galaxy, and thus appears mostly yellowish
in hue. Note the nice spiral galaxy on the left below the beautiful
orange star - 12th magnitude NGC6070.
