Sharpless 2-54 in Serpens

This incredibly rich
field lies 2 degrees due north of the more famous M16 nebula,
and besides being a super rich starfield in Serpens, it also
contains Sharpless 2-54 in the foreground, an extensive hydrogen
gas cloud with swirls and knots. So next time you visit this
area, skip over the more famous objects to the south and check
out this beautiful starfield!
