Double Cluster in Puppis
Uploaded 3/28/24

This magnificent contrasting pair of open clusters in southern Puppis was a perfect fit for the RASA on a night of exceptional transparency and darkness. This pair of clusters is pretty much due south of M46/47 and on a dark night is easy to confuse the two groups because of thier clusters similar appearance. My late friend Steve Coe once told me he calls these clusters the "False M46-M47". Take a look with binoculars at both pairs and you too will see what he meant!
