The Lagoon Nebula M8 in Sagittarius
Stellarvue SV80 f/6 Astrograph
Uploaded 8/15/23
This
week I would like to share with you another new shot from our
exceptionally dark site up in Happy Jack Arizona. This field
around M8 the Lagoon Nebula is about 4 degrees wide, and also
contains on the left side the beautiful dim emmission nebula
NGC6559. Notice the dark dust lane running almost all the way
around the pair, and indeed - the bright emissin nebula are merely
the illuminated portions of a much larger dark molecular cloud.
The transparency this night was exceptional, with an SQM reading
of 22.0 for most of the night. Technical details: Stellarvue
80mm f/6 refractor, ASI071mcpro CMOS camera, 1 hour exposure.
