Rich Milky Way field in Sagittarius
Uploaded 9/6/21

One of the riches Milky Way fields, the composition you see here was planned to include both dark nebula and M24. Sky in Happy Jack not quite as dark during the monsoon due to air moisture, but this night did still measure a respectible 21.6 mag/sq arcsecond using the Unihedron Sky meter. Such a sky warrants shooting dark nebula. Here we see two with complex structure. There is an enormous amount of interstellar dust in this part of the sky. This causes many of the stars to appear yellowish or brown making color balance tricky!

This is a 1 hour exposure with the 8" f/3.9 astrograph and Televue Paracorr 2.
