The Heart Nebula in Cassiopia - IC1805
9/29/23

A new shot of IC1805 and the surrounding region from our dark high altitude observatory in Happy Jack, Arizona. This 2.5h integration time image reveals a huge amount of background nebulosity around the Heart, delicate dark nebula and Bok globules in the core region, and a rich red and pink coloration. Stars are balanced for G2V so the nebula is very close to its correct colors. To the upper right is the Fish head nebula IC1795 and a very interesting feature on the upper left - a twisted ray of nebulosity cutting from the upper left corner to the middle of the Heart. This celstial Twizzler is reminicent of something I would expect to see in the Veil nebula. On the upper left edge we see a small group of tiny red nebula, this is Sharpless 2-194. Technical data: 80mm f/4.6 Stellarvue SV80s, ASI071mc CMOS camera, 2.5h RGB.
