The 12.5 inch - Birch Mesa Observatory Astrograph
Uploaded 12/5/17
Finally, the
12.5" astrograph was moved to Payson in 1990. The observatory
was a roll off roof, and we rebuilt the tube as a solid wood
unit to minimize flexure for imaging. It worked great, but took
too long to equalize thermally. The mount had a hard time tracking
precisely with such a heavy tube at this point, and the tube
was due for a rebuild soon. |

Much wood working went into this tube! It was
really solid and I could mount all sorts of other
instruments on its back.
