The First 12.5 inch - "Trifid" Transportable

 The First 12.5"
            instrument was purely visual. The mirror was ground by Pierre
            Schwaar and was f/5. It was fairly sharp, and easily out resolved
            the thin mirror 16". I eventually mounted the 12.5"
            up in Payson in the Sphere dome, and the mounting base became
            a base for the 16".
 

            

            
Here is Black Canyon City in 1987, the 12inch
shows battle scars from many miles of road
travel in the back of a pick up truck.
