Here you can see the first
two levels on the new robot, the bottom one has the 12v gel cell
battery (hidden under the lid), and mounted on the front of the
lower deck is the bumper array. This is a new design, and consists
of cut panels of circuit board mounted on an aluminum bar. The
tactile switches are mounted on each of the four corners on every
plate, and the plate is then covered with 1/8 lexan. The lexan
is attached with silicone rubber adhesive on each pad of the
switches. This offers excellent grip, and good flexibility. Once
we get the main robot board installed on the middle deck next,
we can evaluate the performance of the new bumper array. |
