Pelmatozoans Crinoids and Stemmed Animals from the Upper Cambrian Abrigo Formation in SE Arizona

Updated 7/29/18

Crinoidal material is very rare in the Abrigo, only a few specimens of what appears to be crinoid ossicles were found after countless hours of searching the limestones, even microscopically. Rhombiferen plates were also found on two different slabs which would be one of the earliest members of this bizarre animal group. We did not find any identifiable parts of the primitive Gogia, however we cannot rule out the ossicles we found were from their feeding arms.

Stem or feeding arm ossicle. This could be an early eocrinoid stem, a Rhombiferan stem or arm or Gogia feeding arms. It is only a few mm across.
The ONLY other stem ossicle we found in the Abrigo. It too is quite small!
Rhombiferan plates from the calyx. The animal would have been perhaps half an inch in diameter with a short stem.
 Another Rhombiferan (Cystoid) plate.
