Emission Nebula in Cygnus

Uploaded 9/5/02

Located about one degree from the star Eta Cygni, this lesser know object spans a size of 21 arcminutes in length, or about 1 1/2 times the size of this field. This complex nebulosity contains abundant dark nebula, in the form of dark lanes and isolated patches. Two very bright tawny stars are within the nebulosity, and one with a more bluish component. The nebula changes its coloration across its face. From a deep orange-red on the lower left, to a more magenta cast on the upper right.
