The micro fossil box
continues to evolve. Printing such a large flat object is very
difficult in a 3D printer, the edges want to badly warp and parts
do not fit right. By breaking the box into several easy to print
sections, you can print what you need and not have to reprint
the entire box (took 20+ hours for fossil box 1). Here we have
an inner tray, outer frame and label box. The parts are then
glued with JB weld for plastics and are like totally solid when
done.

The
finished fossil box 4, with clear lexan cover and four corner
screws. Small micro fossils can be seen inside attached to small
blue paint sample chips cut to size. This whole assembly easily
fits under the stereo microscope for examination! |
