Full Moon and Mars

Last night we were
treated to a spectacular sight in the east after sunset, the
full moon rising over the snow covered Mogollon Rim with the
planet Mars at opposition less than a degree below it. This image
was taken also right as the pair was superimposed on the "Belt
of Venus", which is the shadow of the Earth seen as a bluish
purple color here.
